Dovetail Custom Kitchens: Our Grand Opening Celebration

On September 19th, 2024, we were thrilled to host the grand opening of Dovetail Custom Kitchens in Branford, CT. Nearly 100 guests—friends, family, colleagues, trade partners, and clients—joined us for this special occasion, celebrating the debut of our beautiful new showroom. After months of hard work, it was an incredible feeling to finally share this space with everyone.

What was once a vacant hair salon has been completely transformed into a state-of-the-art design studio. The journey took six months of renovations and 10 months of planning, and the result is a stunning showcase of the finest kitchen products we offer. The evening was a perfect way to celebrate the milestone, with Clarke, our partner and distributor of Subzero, Wolf, and Galley Workstation Sinks, sending their chef to prepare a beautiful charcuterie board displayed on the Galley accessories. Friends and family contributed with homemade pizza, a cake featuring our Dovetail logo, and signature cocktails served in custom wine glasses that guests took home as gifts.

We were especially touched by the support from our industry partners, including the President of Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry, Butch Achey, who traveled all the way from Schaefferstown, PA, to be with us. He shared kind words, saying, “It was a real pleasure to be part of this journey the two of you have chosen. From all of us at P&F, we wish you the best. I, as well as everyone, had a great time, and you did it right. The showroom looked beautiful, but was hard to see due to all the people in attendance.“

We were also honored to have guests travel from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Manhattan, and all over Connecticut to join us. The celebration spilled onto the sidewalk, with some passersby even stopping in to enjoy the food and drinks. Though the event was scheduled to end at 8:00 PM, we didn’t wrap things up until well after 9:30 PM—it was that much fun!

It had termites, rotting studs, black mold, and the largest hairballs I’ve ever seen. Shawn and I took a leap of faith, with a vision to create the most beautiful design studio and kitchen showroom in Connecticut. Today, we’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the love and support of those around us.“
